WHAT IS HEALTH COACHING?

Health coaching is a one-on-one consulting service in which a certified health coach provides customized, tactical support to help you achieve your health goals. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, manage a health condition, resolve digestive discomfort or create new healthy habits, health coaches tailor individualized programs to your needs and provide practical, strategic advice and accountability.

WHAT QUALIFIES A HEALTH COACH?

A health coach is a wellness authority and supportive mentor who motivates individuals to cultivate positive health choices. An expert in the process of behavior change, health coaches educate and support clients to achieve their goals through lifestyle adjustments. Health coaches work in partnership with their clients to help enhance personal accountability, set goals and take action to achieve and sustain health-supporting behaviors. Professionally trained and certified through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I bring expertise in functional medicine, nutrition, as well as personal experience in overcoming my own health challenges.

DO HEALTH COACHES COLLABORATE WITH OTHER HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS LIKE PHYSICIANS?

Yes. While a health coach should never replace a doctor or other practitioner, working with one can often serve as a bridge between medical recommendations and a patient taking action. Health coaches can help fill the gap by spending more time with patients, supporting them to move forward with recommendations by their physicians, dietitians, or physical/occupational therapists to create and maintain healthy behaviors. 

WHAT TYPES OF CLIENTS DO YOU TYPICALLY WORK WITH?

In general, my clients are individuals who are motivated to improve their health. Typical goals include weight loss, healthier eating, increased exercise, or stress reduction (behaviors associated with disease prevention and reversal). However, each client is unique and this list is not exhaustive – many clients have goals outside of these common health categories.

 

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? WHERE DOES COACHING OR TRAINING TAKE PLACE?

I am based in Charlotte, North Carolina and work with clients both in person and remotely via phone and video conference.

HOW LONG DO CLIENTS WORK WITH YOU?

It varies, but typically clients embark in a 12-week program. This recommendation is based on the principles of behavior change, and allows my clients to make sustainable health changes through small steps and repetition, while receiving ongoing support and partnership from me as their health coach through various seasons and circumstances as challenges arise. I do offer one-time consultations that serve to introduce clients to coaching with initial recommendations if committing to a 12-week program is not an option.

Yes! I offer an initial consultation free of charge. We’ll talk about your goals, discuss my approach and determine whether we’re a good fit for working together.

IF I ATTEND A FREE HEALTH CONSULTATION, DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO A COACHING PROGRAM?

Not at all. I understand you might need to take some time to make a decision. Just keep me in the loop so I know you’re all good and when you feel you’re ready to move forward, you know where to find me!
